Adult Communication & Athlete Safety Policy
Last updated August 12, 2026
Adults only
Only adults age 18 or older may submit listings, respond to listings, or communicate through LAXassist. A parent or legal guardian must submit and manage any listing involving a minor player. Adults must not use LAXassist to privately message a minor athlete.
Parent or guardian involvement
All communication about a minor must include and be directed through the minor’s parent or legal guardian. Meetings, evaluations, training, transportation, lodging, and other in-person interactions must follow applicable law and recognized athlete-safety practices, including observable and interruptible interactions.
Coaches, clubs and providers
Any adult acting as a coach, club representative, trainer, videographer, recruiter, volunteer, or service provider represents that they maintain all memberships, training, background screenings, child-abuse clearances, criminal-history checks, and other credentials required by their role, organization, governing body, and applicable state or local law.
USA Lacrosse adult coach members are subject to USA Lacrosse athlete-protection requirements, including its NCSI background-screening process and abuse-prevention training. Users are responsible for confirming their current status directly with USA Lacrosse and satisfying any additional state or organizational requirements.
Student trainers and player mentors
A high-school athlete may be listed as a “Student Trainer” or “Player Mentor” only through a parent- or legal-guardian-managed account. The adult must manage the profile, communication, scheduling and payment. The student may not be presented as a certified professional unless the listed credential is accurate and independently verifiable.
A responsible adult must remain present for every session. Private transportation, private indoor one-on-one sessions, and direct messaging between the student trainer and a minor client are prohibited through LAXassist. Student listings require LAXassist approval before publication.
LAXassist’s role
LAXassist reviews listings and contact requests but does not independently conduct background checks, certify users, guarantee credentials, or endorse any person or organization. A “Verified Club Pro” badge confirms only that club ownership or authorized representation was reviewed; it is not a safety certification. Parents, clubs, and users must perform their own due diligence before sharing information, meeting, hiring, or participating.
Reporting concerns
Do not proceed with any communication or activity that feels unsafe. Report concerning conduct to coach@laxassist.com and, when appropriate, to the relevant organization, governing body, law-enforcement agency, or child-protection authority. Call 911 when someone is in immediate danger.
This policy establishes platform rules and is not legal advice.
